Maggie Grace is an American actor who was born Margaret Grace Denig in 1983. Her best-known roles include Shannon Rutherford, a character from ABC's Lost series as well as Kim Mills from the Taken trilogy. Maggie Grace, originally from Worthington in Ohio, dropped out of high school and moved into Los Angeles after her divorced parents. She was struggling to get by and was offered her first acting role in the film Rachel's Room's lead character. In 2002 she was nominated for a Young Artist Award with her character as a 15 year old murder victim Martha Moxley. In 2004, Grace was chosen to play Shannon Rutherford in the television series Lost in which she was the main actor for the first two seasons. She was also awarded a Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the cast of the ensemble. Grace was a co-star alongside Tom Welling on The Fog in 2005, decided to make the move into the world of film. In 2007, she starred on screen in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and also, as the Liam Neeson character Kim Mills as Kim Mills for Taken. She reprised the role for Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the leading role in Alice in Malice in Wonderland a modern adaptation of Lewis Carroll's book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace played Shannon's part in Lost for two more episodes, which included the series final. The year was 2013, and she was a guest in the sixth season of Californication. She is Faith an actress who serves as a model for the stars, and draws the attention from Hank Moody (David Duchovny). A member of the Gyllenhaal clan she is the daughter of film makers Stephen Gyllenhaal and Naomi Achs as well as the elder cousin of the actor Jake Gyllenhaal. The first time she appeared in the films of her father when he was an adolescent. With her brother, she appeared as a character in Donnie Darko (2000). The year 2002 saw her starred as a character on Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. Also, she appeared in Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal has received acclaim from critics for her performances as the lead in the erotic romance comedy Secretary (2002) as well as the thriller Sherrybaby (2006) both of which earned her a Golden Globe Award nomination. After a string of commercially successful films, like World Trade Center in 2006 she gained greater recognition for her role as Rachel Dawes (the superhero) in The Dark Knight (2007). She was nominated to win an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress due to her part as Rachel Dawes in Crazy Heart, (2009). After that, she went on to play in comedies and dramas like Nanny McPhee And The Big Bang (2010) Hysteria (2011), and The Won't Back Down (12). The other roles she's played includes Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013 Action thriller) and actors in Frank (2014, drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018) in addition to the role of the Kindergarten teacher. The debut of Gyllenhaal as a writer and director took place in 2021, with The Lost Daughter, a psycho-drama in which she won an award at the Venice International Film Festival Best Screenplay Award. She also was awarded an Academy Award nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.
